I know it has been a long time since I posted anything here. No, there’s no particular disaster behind it or anything. Just busy at work, leaving too little free time which I’ve tried to use in more enjoyable ways. Here are some of the things that have happened.

  • I went to New Haven CT a month and a half ago. The story of why I was there isn’t all that interesting, but I did happen to be there while they were filming the latest episode of the Indiana Jones movie series, which was a bit surreal. They’d basically turned a significant section of downtown into a movie set. The stores all had signs and window displays made up to look like the 50s, while the store’s real name and business were written on sheets of paper. This must have been very disorienting to anyone actually trying to shop or find a restaurant. The next day, there were really big – 6-8 foot diameter – fans and big tankers of water near the building I was visiting. I guess there was a rain scene coming up. There were also lots of these cool old 50s cars parked along the streets. Overall, it was pretty amusing.
  • Cindy’s brother and his family came to visit, bringing Amy’s two cousins. We went to Crane’s beach, where Amy insisted on staying in the water even after her lips were quivering and turning blue. She’s a real waterbug.
  • We went to visit my mother and brother. Some of the time was taken up with preparing for legal stuff I’d rather not talk about. Some of it was spent at Ann Arbor’s Art Fair, which is really four art fairs covering two or three city blocks apiece. It’s a huge affair which makes it very difficult to get around downtown, but it’s kind of cool too. We also discovered the Ann Arbor Hands On Museum, but more about that later.
  • Went to Crane’s beach again, got sunburned.
  • At work, I’ve been working a lot on the 5832-processor system, getting it to behave itself. It’s frustrating at times, but other times I step back and realize how cool this is. This machine rocks.

Tomorrow I’ll post some pictures. Actually I’ll post them tonight, but I’ll post-date it so they show up tomorrow. Stay tuned.
